After years of trying to secure credentials to the Summer Fancy Food Show, I finally walked through those doors and it was every bit as magical as I had imagined. My colleagues had been singing its praises for years, and now I finally understood why. Every aisle was bursting with color, culture, and incredible flavors. With every bite, it felt as though my passport was being stamped by another country. By the end of the day, I had taken a culinary journey around the world without ever leaving New York City.

As unforgettable as every tasting was, one destination captured my heart above all the rest: Italy. I had the honor of covering the iconic Italian organization, Coldiretti, a champion of Italy’s agricultural heritage and the excellence of Made in Italy. Through its Filiera Italia initiative, Coldiretti unites farmers and some of the country’s most celebrated food producers, preserving traditions that have been lovingly passed down for generations.

The Coldiretti team welcomed me with such genuine warmth that I felt like an honored guest rather than a member of the press. I was invited to an intimate tasting where I savored exquisite Italian wines and what may very well have been the finest pizza I’ve ever tasted. Every sip and every bite told a story of craftsmanship, passion, and generations of tradition.

Some experiences nourish you long after they’re over. This was one of them. Italy, you were the highlight of my day and until we meet again, arrivederci.
